Ok so I finaly installed my LSD that was sitting on my shelf for a year, After the break in there was a rather large amount of metal flakes on the drain plug, Is this normal or could the ring gear be out of alignment? Also the SOB locks up hard and is LOUD as all hell, I know its supposta be noisy but this thing sounds like its breaking, its not a grinding noise but more like I would think clutch plates locking would sound like just louder. If anyone has done this install b4 was there alot of metal shavings on the drain plug and in the oil? Was it super loud?

I guess that's why they say, "change the oil after break-in."

And the noise is nothing the stereo can't take care of. I don't have an LSD yet so I don't have any experience to help you out with.

i helped do mine, enough so that with the proper tools i could probibly do another myself...

yes their was a metallic tint in the fluid and metal on the drain plug, and it was fairly noisy... when we put it in we measured the play in the diff and it came out to be perfect, he said we were lucky and kaaz build a quality unit that didnt need these lil spacers (dont know the name) to adjust it... i dunno if all of their diffs are to spec, i would assume so but their are always variables.

he said if it had too much play then it would be extreamly loud and too little play and it would accually seize up under heat and load, not sure exactly if this could be your problem, but i know its a concern when installing a diff...

just a thought i had, id seek more informative source than me, i hope it helps tho, and that its not your problem

I called drift factory (the place I got it) and they said that its normal to have metal flakes in your fluid and on the plug after break in and sometimes its gonna be alot so I'm not to worried about that, and as far as the noise he said it should quite down quite a bit after 500 Miles or so and with the Kaaz fluid insted of the crap that I used to break it in. Only thing I didn't like was to change the Fluid every 3000 miles ouch thats gonna add up to alot of cost to change my own oil now oh well the price you pay for lookin good and going fast I guess BTW I love the way it handels and pulls. I'd never even think of going back to an open diff so I guess it was worth the price to play.
