dayumm. Nothing is lined up.Turn the crank until the pointer is on the red mark (second mark on left) that should put the piston #1 at tdc.Your cam seems to be off by almost 180*.The dowel pin should be at 12 o'clock. Disregard the colored links.Chances are the didtributor will also have to be re-aligned.Have you ever "jumped" a timing chain or belt before?

Actually this is better then when i originally bought the car. before the cam sprockets teeth were all chewed up. i got this cam sprocket from a 89 240sx that was at a local shop rotting. so originally the timing was shot. Im not gonna **** up my valves if i turn the engine over by hand right?

Nothing is lined up. Get the key way on the cam and crank to point up. Then do the set for the chain. Remove the tensioner and match the links to the punchmarks on the sprockets. Your distributor will be near where it's at at that point. BTW the firing order is off on your picture, just fyi lol.

just like 180 said, both keyways at 12 o clock, orange timing mark on pointer, than align the silver links with the dots on crank and cam,. I think from memory the silver links should be 21 apart, thats counting the silver ones as well, let us know how it goes.

OK your half way there, leave everything like it is,...now take the oil pump and dizzy off again, pull the spindle down and out, then turn it 180 degrees around and reinstall it..

when its all in and the oil pump is on, have a look down the dizzy hole, the FLAT SIDE of the shaft must be facing the radiator,.. and if you understand what I mean, it must be not quite 12 o clock, its 5 minutes to 12 o clock.

so the flat side is not quite straight up 7 or 8 degrees anticlockwise from straight up

Oh yeah, I forgot to say, the red mark is lined up with the marker, yes, but make sure its on the compression stroke!!!

so to check this put a socket on the balancer pully, and turn the motor anti clockwise about 45 degrees, then put your finger in number 1 spark plug hole, now when you now turn the motor back to tdc, (red mark) air should push your finger, if it doesnt, that means the engine must be turned 1 full revolution to tdc again, then you must do the oil pump/spindle/dizzy thing again if that was the case.

Ok #1 piston At TDC on Compression stroke. Took Oil Pump Out. Spun rod 180* which made the spindel look like it is in the first picture. Red Mark on Crank is at Pointer. Cam dowel pin at 12 o'clock. Hows this look for spindle and dizzy? From this point the spark plugs go 1-3-4-2 counterclockwise on the cap correct?

That is correct.Turn the crank a couple of full revolutions and make certain your timing marks are still true. At that point, all things matching up, you should be good to go.

WRONG!!!!, Like I said in my post the other day, the flat part has to be facing the radiator, but not straight up!!, its gotta be 5 minutes to 12 o clock, ... you did it 5 minutes past 12 o clock!! SO take the oil pump off again and turn that spindle back a smidgen so its 5 to 12 !!

good luck!!

ummm, the flat part is facing the radiator. The picture is at an angle, I thought the same thing at first. I had to put my beer down and really look at it for a minute. In the next pic it clearly shows the rotor on #1, so that as what finally convinced me of the shafts orientation.Unless I was more effed up than I thought.

its one tooth out, looking down the dizzy shaft it has to go one tooth anti clockwise.
