Alright, I have an 89 240 with the ka24e and my engine just cranks and won't start and I can't place the problem. I'd been driving it, then it would start to cut off, then started overheating, and in an apparently unrelated coincidence, the top hole of the radiator exploded off and the power steering pulley broke off at the same time. Anyways I noticed there is a whole lot of coolant in my oil pan. I got a new distributor to see if thats why it was just cranking and I poured gas into the intake. I'm pretty sure it has a spark, it just won't start!?!? Might it just be a blown head gasket preventing it from starting or is it most likely not worth fixing and just trashing my lovely car? Please help.

i dont even know where to start with this one.

the oilpan containing coolant is suspect.

it might be shot.

the coolant in the oil pan could be the timing cover wore through from a loose T-chain by the water jacket. but since it over heated could be the hea gasket or a cracked head. you need to check for spark by pulling the plug wire out and looking for an arch to ground when cranking, then you need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to see if you have fuel pressure. if these both check out do a compression test make sure you have compression in all 4 cyl(leak down test would be better) thats the places to start to check for it not starting.

BUT you need to address the coolant in oil issue before you even think of letting that engine run for any length of time. You need to find out whats allowing that coolant into the crank case.
