I just got a great deal on a 90 240sx pignose with the front lip for $400. The engine will not start. It wants to turn over but it doesn't do anything unless I give it gas. I know he KA24e has headgasket problems but this one has been replaced. I checked the oil and radiator and no chocolate milk. The guy I got t from says that it blew up but that usually is a sign of a bad head gasket? Before I go too far with things what do you all think I should look at?

have you done all your checks for spark also. I am assuming it is getting fuel because you said it responds to the throttle. Also, do you have the ability to run a compression check just to make sure the HG install went ok

psThe coupe got its first upgrades last weekend. Energy suspension. She is pretty tight now in the corners, but my wife drives the car, she is pretty aggressive about that....

I have yet to check everything(don't have my tools with me). But if the plugs were bad it would be worse when I give it gas right? I noticed a double throttle valve set-up. One goes to a black ball? Never seen it before. The other goes to the actual throttle pedal. Could a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump cause someone to think there engine has blown up? Never experienced any of this stuff so I'm a little shook

check it for fuel to see if its the pump, then take the filter off and blow thru it to see if black shizle comes out. If its hard to blow thru then it may be clogged all together. Oh and lets be serious, clean the gas off or attach a line that is clean, and try not to inhale too much fumes

Ask the person you bought it from what he means by blew up. Sounds like he may have over reved the engine and that is not good. have you pulled the dist cap and looked at the rotor to see the condition? Compression check and then pull the valve cover and see if the timing chain is intact.

I just took off the valve cover and the chain was lose on the right side? Never had to work on any of this before but I know something is wrong. The head gasket was also hanging in the inside of the engine. I guess who ever worked on the car was an idiot Well any ideas what could be going on down there. If anyone has any pictures that would be great. Thanks for all the info.
