I just started driving my ka turbo, when it first starts its ok, but after driving for around 5 minutes A huge cloud of bluish white smoke pours out, and keeps pouring out to the point where it hovers off the ground lol. I know this is oil burning from the turbo, but why does it only do it when I am under 2200 rpm's? when Im over 2200 rpm the smoke is gone. Can this be because I am using a -4 an line with out a resistor? or does my turbo need to be rebuilt? Do you think If I use a restrictor this will get rid of the smoke?

Could be alot of things. My friends rear seal on the turbo went to hell and that all we saw was blue smoke puffing. Definitely check compression first thing. I know blues are oil but the white maybe fuel. Nick

did you do any injector work? if one of them is leaking it could cause smoking like that. but i would think it would do it right from start-up though? what turbo are you using? ive read that the z31 t3's have weak seals....

im using a z31 t3 turbo, and I know its not the rings, because I can drive for around 5 minutes before the smoke even starts to come (start up), (the turbo is not hot enough yet to burn oil i guess?) Tomorrow I am going to buy a resistor and see how that works out I just do not get why it only happens below 2200 rpm, if im above 2200 the car drives normal, and 0 bluish white smoke

blue smoke = oilblack smoke = fuelwhite smoke = coolant

So possibly the headgasket.

not the head gasket, nothing is in the oil. I know its the turbo, I pu the restrictor on today, and it stoped the smoking by more than half. But there is still alittle smoke now when stoping some times, a puff will go out then nothing. I know the turbo seals are bad, maby the problem can be im running crappy oil to break everything in. But i think the -4an line may be to big
