He should, all else being equal. Intake and header wont make up 15 horsepower.

my 89 with exhaust and intake, y box removal beat a s14... Both of us had a passenger. Both were auto... thank god im swapping that sheet. It might have been cuz i cranked up the revs with the brake on (like how ur supossed to race an auto) I dont know if he did or not, but i whooped him. Just to show ya it is possible.

it really depends how good the drivers are. SOHC engine can easily beat a DOHC. its all about how u drive it. want to find out for sure? pull up to the line :)

I think if I pulled up to the line in my stock 1995 you'd se hazard in a few seconds ;)

Even a good driver can only do so much. A car is only capable of so much. 15 hp I think would make up for a bit of driver error and give a bit of extra room.

well now don't jump ahead of yourself here. sure u may have 15 extra hp. but your car if it is stock, does weigh more. Your ACT clutch(not stock) will definatly help during shifts. the original question i beleive was who would win and it does depend on the driver. most 240's are pretty damn close stock in 0-60 specs etc so there is very little advantage either way. u probably would beat me right now cause my clutch is a ****ty dynapack and is probably designed for old grannies(1st gear ok, slips pasts 3rd though in hard driving). Don't knock the SOHC motors . what we don't have in hp we do make up in torque. dunno where u live but if ur ever up in BC canada let me know we'll have to find out for sure who's faster :)

I had a 1997 Nissan pickup for a long time. It had a KA24E, i'm not knocking the motor. It's just as strong as the DE. The DE just puts out a bit more power because it's DOHC. It's not night and day, but a slight difference. both probably have the same potential. (although there is just a slightly larger aftermarket support for the DE)

You're also forgetting the weight issue. The coupe's are lighter, and the SE's are heavier. A few lbs can make a difference sometimes.

I weighed mine at the track, 2700lb w/o Driver. Pretty heavy I guess. I don't know what the other 240s weigh though.
