The KA24e was found in the Axxess 89-93, the D21 Pick-Up 89-94, and the Pick-Up (Pathfinder) 90-94. I think that is it for the KA24e. The Ka24de is the altima 92-97, and frontier 97-99. But i think they all have different gear ratio's.

I would think that the engine would fit, the block atleast , i dunno about were the compressor and alternator is on the trucks. I know that it is easy to put in the transmission of the truck because the truck as a lower ratio so you can go faster on the high end and get better gas mileage so many people use it to replace there stock transmission when it drops. Why do you ask?

I was just curious and kicking around some options for a new motor in my 240. If i decide to rebuild and turbo a ka24e i thought it might be cheap and easy to pull one from a nissan truck at a junkyard and go that route. I still havent decided because im in love with the sr20, as most people here are.

That is cool, trying to keep you options open. Go with what you like. I like my Ka for the low end torque. I drove my friends celica and alltough it had alot of high end power it had so little torque. Anyways good luck with whatever you do.

DANGER! WILL ROBINSON DANGER!

The KA24Es that Nissan put in to their PU/SUV lines were assembled in Mexico. No slight on the folks who put them together, but the tolerances were much wider. Also, if I remember correctly there are some actual casting differences in the heads and block. The KAs that went into the 240s were of a much higher build quality/tighter tolerance.

Check out Malvern Racing's site, they have some good info there on the KA in the web forums.

I still haven't decided on the SR either. If I Daily Drive my 240, I'm gonna get serious about the swap. If I want to road-race it, SCCA etc., then the swap would put me in an unlimited type class where my skills would be sorely lacking. Choices choices.

Well, that last post changed my mind about that idea. Thanks for the info.

so swapping the transmission from the truck would give me wider gearing?...maybe a lil' higher top speed?....aren't the truck trannies just as weak as the 240 ones?..do the ka24e ones fit the ka24de in the 240?...did the trucks possibly have a useable lsd?(i've searched for the answers....and can't find them..no one ever mention lsd from the truck or anyhting..i'm figuring it doens't have one)

Don't know about your other questions, but I've never heard that the 240's transmission was particularly weak?

Even if the trucks had an LSD it wouldn't be a direct swap, as the rear end of the pickup, pathfinder, and XTerra are all solid axle. They all have a different gear ratio than the 240 rear end also. It's just as easy to find a J30 or 240sx rear end with a VLSD.

I mean synchros..not nessecarily gears...I never want to hear that grinding noise again at high shifts once i decide what i'm goin to do with the transmission...I like paul's idea of the 300zx swap onto a ka24 bellshousing..but who knows what will work-

one of the many good things i've come across on the 240's is the transmission. dunno bout the truck ones etc, but ours were over built for the northamerican models. the transmission in any 240 can probably handle more power than u can put to it. that puts a smile on my face :)
