no responses from the ka section.

im getting an s14 ka from a friend.

apparently i need a valve cover because it currently has a fwd cover (didn't know there was a difference? )

anywayy,i searched and found that the sohc transmission will mate up just fine but i've had a few people tell me that i need to replace the flywheel and clutch.

didn't find any info on this but it makes sense to me that the clutch and flywheel i have should work just fine, correct?

i need the ecu which im getting, as well as a harness for the swap.

pretty sure i also need an intake manifold from an s13 dohc?go ahead and flaaame, to lazy to open a new tab to make sure lol

my question is,if my clutch and flywheel are in pretty good shape, can i just use those?should i get a new clutch and resurface the flywheel?will a dohc clutch fit and work properly in a sohc transmission?

what else would i need to change in order for this swap to work?

thanks for any help guysand sorry for any newbness

it's blatant admission of your laziness to search that really upset people. almost, if not more, than the people who claim to have searched without actually doing so. but it's early and no one has pissed me off yet.

the "search" button

clutch is the same, not sure about flywheel, but you may as well service them since you have the motor and transmission out of the car.

You can use the same clutch/ flywheel, but definitely have the flywheel resurfaced. You will need the S13 dual cam intake manifold and the MAF.

The only reason why you would need to change the valve cover is if you have the S13 dual cam one on the S14 head. Pictures would help.. but the easy way to tell the difference is on the S13 dual cam valve cover there is a bolt right behind the last spark plug. On the S14 dual cam covers, there isnt one.

me so sorry...no but really, i figured someone would know the answer right away and they could just reassure me.

but yes, im planning on getting the flywheel resurfaced as well as ordering an oem replacement clutch kit.

i have searched for an s14 ka into an s13 using a sohc transmission, found a thread but it wasnt specified on s14 ka's, just wasn't sure how big of a difference it would make.

preez fo-gib me

At least my morning routine is common enough that other have the same.

So you are swapping KA24e to DE because?

You can get your hands on the motor and the old one is bad?

Old one is still good you just want to have the awesomeness of DOHC?

the wiring is the most fun part that's why I ask.

IMO it is easier to get a 240sx already DOHC then it is to swap a SOHC to DOHC.

The differences in trans in the amount of sensors attached to it, I think s14 has plugs the SOHC doesn't and I'm not sure how important those sensors are to the ecu. I think you'd be fine tho its just a trans and most wires are just switches for your lights to come on.

If I remember right

You need the s14 motor in full, the gauge cluster from a DOHC, engine harness if you just wanna plug it in easy, MAF, ecu

that might be it.
