So I Bought This Car For Next To Nothing. $400. nut now the down side is i cant get it to run.. the condition of the timing was when the cam key hole was at TDCand the crank was at 15* BTDC The Dist. Rotor was pointing at 10:30 or so.... so i un did the distributor from the under side and rotated it untill the rotor was pointing to 4:30, which from what i read and know about the timing on the car this shold be about right. i jdont have any pics, i know i know i should have taken before and after pic's but i thought i had it becasue i had it runing in the 180 off spot but it was totally too lean.... making the echaust manifold glow.... hope som one can give me some advice on what to change next to get this thing runing.....

thanks

put your motor at top tdc with the number one piston at tdc ,then check your cam gear if this is good then check your rotor to see if its at number 1 if your not at number 1 on your rotor pull the dist and the oil pump and restab with the timing marks aligned then crank and go

search for the sohc timing chain install and you'll see plenty of explainations. if you were 180 off, your engine probably wouldn't have started. redo the distributor part after making sure the keyways on the cam and the crank are both pointing to the 12 o'clock position.
