Hey guys! I just bought a fully Rebuilt KA24E, the guy who sold me the motor said that everything else is good! He told me all I gotta do is just to set the motor on TDC.. So I did that n the motor didn't wanna crank at all it will still spinnig so I though it was an electrical problem!! I checked everything! No problem at all!! Motor has spark & receives fuel!! So I had to check the compression!! So here are the results!!

1st 1652nd 180 3rd 170 4th 170

I was told that's good!! Ok so I opened my valve cover today n i found this!! the chain links were not lined up with the Cam sproket marks!! so wat that tells me!!? I gotta re do the timing!! So I guess the guy who sold me the motor didn't know how to do it!!

My question is!! Does anyone know wat I gotta do!!? Like I never messed with timing chain before it's my first time!! I know I gotta take the front cover out but I don't know how to set the timing!!! Like how to set on wat positions on the cam sproket, oil pump & crank!! It anyone knows out there I will appreciated!!!

You can't really look at the dot's after cranking the motor. When you crank engine over the dots will move. You can look up in a manual and see where the dot on the cam should be at TDC of the compression stroke. The crankshaft turns (2) times to the cams(1). I think you may have the dist. 180 degrees out.

With crank on top dead center the cam will either on the intake stroke or exhaust stroke. Remove #1 spark plug and crank the engine over while holding your finger over the spark plug hole, or install compression gauge till you get compression on #1 cylinder. Now remove dist. cap and check rotor location to #1 spark plug wire. It will be should be pointing #1, If it's pointing at #4, you have the dist. 180 degrees out of rotation. remove dist. turn rotor till it lines up again with #1.
