I have searched the archives and this is what i have come up with. I am trying to set the timing on my car. I have it sitting still and when it is at idle i have it set at 20 degrees advanced. When i rev it the marks move past where i can read them. What the other thread say is that you really can't time it like this and that the car needs to be under load. My question is how far should the timing move when reved when the car is sat still and not under load?

warm up your car......and set stock timing at 15 degrees. Look for a sticker under the hood and it should tell you which mark it is but i believe it is the second one from the right.

dont worry about letting your car idle when you first start it. Only if you have installed a new cam do you have to hold the rpms up for the first five minutes when you break it in.

Nelson you might want to go back to school and learn a little more about breaking engines in before you open your mouth. I guess i can get my new rings to seat in as little as five minutes..your a joke and I got a great laugh.

The thing that gets me is the wrong info people on here give people or the info isnt in regards to the persons problem, read thier post before you answer

Jeremy your timing will move when you rev it and you dont set your timing when your engine is under a load.
