just rebuilt my ka24e after letting it idle for about 10 mins it started to make a ticking in the valve cover. its timed properly. any input would be appreciated

A light ticking sound is normal. Mine has been doing it since 1993 :) Hot or cold the sounds is pretty much the same. You didn't crank down the valve cover bolts did you ?
