GOOD OR BAD IDEA????? I just swapped a 92 ka24de into my 90 240. So I have an extra ka24e, and I stumbled across a 90 240 with no engine for $750 with a clean body. I'm thinking about rebuilding my E and turboing it and putting it into the other 240 and selling my High compression kade for the turbo kit/wheels exc. I havent heard of very many people turboing the SOHC, what type of horsepower can u see from small mods like rom tuned ecu, fuel injectors, fuel pump, t3/t4, downpipe,PDM stage 2 cams, 8.5:1 compression and say 10psi. Compared to a 10.6:1 ka24de with intake, exhaust, elec fan,msd dig 6, port polish head, 50 shot N2O. Will the horspwer gains be worth the work? I'm not real familiar with how well the ka24e breaths compared to the DE.I havent been real satisfied with the DE's NA performance

I'm goign to turbo my SOHC. Unless I get my mom's vert which has the dohc in it. I got one engine blown head gasket and then a ka24e engine and transmission. Trying to decide what to do. Think I will just get the kit put it on the one engine and then send the other one off to the shop when i get more cash. Then transfer all the parts onto the built engine.

I would check the KA-T forum on turboing the KA24E. It hard to determine HP without the turbo size.

I think the E is just as capable of making nice hp as the DE. I know I'll be building one of my E engines this winter. I really only see 1 advantage from the DE, that obviously being the 2 cams. Everything else can be modified. As for the E not having piston oil squirters, I really don't think that's taking much away, IMO.

Adam Hutchenson (sp?) has a good example of a pretty sweet built single cam turbo. Check out his website here: http://www.turbo240sx.ca/

Lots of people have turboed their SOHC engines with good results, there's no reason you wouldnt be able to as well.

That was so not funny, it went beyond the point of being SO not funny that it IS funny, right back to being not funny. sorry.

SOHC horsepower will be about that of the same setup on a DE, minues 10-20 hp. The head flows a little worse and stock compression is lower (which is good for safety, but makes less power.)
