I got into discussion about me getting a SR20 with some guy that everyone jocks as the 240god or whatever. Newayz the guy tried to tell me that he has a 500HP+ SOHC DAILY DRIVER as a point against me getting my engine. I have no complaints against KA(T)s but Im calling BS on this one. Other then port and polish the internals are stock supposedly and his turbo kit is a junkyard special. What do you guys think?:bsflag or NOT?

Would need a full list of mods before I called BS or not, but stock internals sounds a bit sketchy to me...

TOTAL AND UDDER BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

500whp KA would require a T4 ... cant get that at a junkyard. External wastegated manifolds... cant get that at a junkyard. I'd say prove it... own him infront of a crowd.

Can the SOHC take 500HP, I mean, would it be streetable?? Sounds like BS to me.

SOHC is a very capable motor when it comes to boosting. Every bit as good as the DOHC IMO. You can build any motor to have huge horsepower numbers and still be streetable, it all depends on how to build it, and what you call streetable. Some people would consider an F1 car streetable if they were legal. Personally, I can deal with quite a bit on a daily driver that most people couldn't. Its a matter of opinion.

But if this guy says he's got stock internals he either means he has SOME stock internals... like one piece is stock, or he goes through internals on a weekly basis. Or of course it could just be a bunch of bs.

Yeah thanx for the piece of mind. I figured it was BS. Anyone got any idea how much it could be running?

Or he could have stock internals and never drive :D

I consider streetable something that doesn't require the full use of race gas, maybe a gallon here and there, but constantly needing something like that is not very streetable or affordable.

How much do you think a 500hp SOHC would run, probley alot of the requirements that WDRacing was asking about 600hp DOHC.

it can be done....at 12psi i am laying down a nice 300ftlbs on my sohc in a very untuned a/f ratio state(i drive it on the street sometimes)..i would think that a hefty 25psi would put it right up there close to 500hp at the engine....

only with pistons and rods though...

no clue really...the only time i had it out on the drag track was in the rain(figures it would rain that day)..i had a 3sec 60ft..and a 95mph trap at 14.7..and was spinning 1st, 2nd, 3rd, finnaly got some traction in 4th....if i were to guess i would say 13.3-13.7 in that range most likely? once i get the car sorted out i will go back to the drag strip one night for fun and see...it really is a road race car so drag racing is not that important to me...

ADAMHU, according to my calculations, and because I am aiming ata the 300 (crank) HP and 300ftlbs myself, I think u should be in the low 13s high 12s if ur REALLY good at shifting. CarTest 4.5 gave me a figure of 12.9, which I think is very optimistic, but so far it has been dead on about my stock 1990 240SX, and I only have a home made intake, with which I ran 15.9 (CarTest said 16, but it didn't account for intake).

Btw, I have a few questions for you about KA24ET creation, I'll post them later for eveeyone to have a chance to have a go at my questions.
