I rebuilt a KA24E for my 89 240sx. I did not do anything to the bottom end of it except new gaskets for the pan, water pump-with new pump, and the timing chain and case. So a basic top end rebuild. I bought a Nissan 270/270 performance cam, header, intake, adjustable fuel pressure reg. and and all new exhaust front to back. I have the motor running and all of these parts are in it. I just dont know where to go about starting on setup. Since the intake/exhaust flow, lift/duration and fuel pressure are changed and the distributor was all the way out, I dont know what to start adjusting first. It doesn't seem like it holds real good timing like when I let off the pedal (barely down) it wants to die, I dont know if this is from the cam and timing, the fuel pressure, a possible vacuum leak... I also ported/planed the head and the intake manifold and I took out the flaps for the Swirl control valve which I had not read anything about its process but I noticed on a KA24E turbo conversion that it was removed. I am assuming that I dont need it but I am wondering if this things sensor or the relay for it is throwing off my ECM. I did seal all of the holes shut from the swirl valve flaps with high temp JB weld before I ported it.

i don't think its that cuz, the SCV is suppose to make more tuoqe under load and mix the fuel with the air better, but thats only when you when vacuum gets to the valve, its not going to idle bad , its ganna make the car run better at higher end, also, wat brand of cam did you get, cuz i heard the some cams have bad idle problems, and the ones from JIM WOLF have good lift/duration and really good idle, so check on that.

I bought the cam from the NISMO nissan north america order catalog so its a direct fit factory made part but its not the original size, I think my old cam was 232/248 or something around that. I have found out what the SCV does but I still dont know which variant to start messing with. Like I said before it does run just not real steady. I noticed that in the picture you have the same car as me. Was yours an automatic when you bought it?
