I have a KA24E that stumbles and misfires at idle and occasionally around ~2500RPM whilke driving.

It has 220 000KMS and has an odd oil disapearing over 3000kms problem, it has no traces of burning oil in the exaust, I belive it is the valve cover gasket as I can see traces of oil around it.

I checked all connections with:InjectorsMAFSTPSO2 sensorPulled plug wires to see if I could isolate the problem but that turned nothing.

Also I pulled the plugs and it appears that its runnign lean on cyl 2

There is a crack all the way around the stock manifold between cylinders 2 and 3 but I do not belive the loss in backpressure would be the cause.

What other solutions should I check? Is there anyway to check the timing without a light?

i hate to jump to a conclusion but please affirm for me that you have factory plugs, wires, cap, and rotor that are not old.

Factory everything except plug wires, thier 8mm that the previous owner bought. I have only been driving the car the past 3 months so I'm not sure how old they are. I dont have a record of thier replacement in the papers. Cap looks to be newer. Didn't pull it to take a look at the rotor though.

ok, what you want to do is figure out which cyl is missing and then find out if its ign or fuel. see if you can get it to missfire regularly and then start pulling plug wires. its called a power balance test. you pull each wire and see what the rpms are at each pull. the one that causes the least drop(meaning the rpms are the highest) is the weak cyl. then you need to have either a spark checker or a timing light to see if its loosing spark during the missfire.

I'll try that and see what the results are.

It was bucking and hesitating hardcore today in the rain and himidity, it seems to be a closed loop ecu problem cause when I got over 1/2 throttle it goes smooth.

I cannot get it to misfire without load being put on the motor, so the power balance test doesnt work very well in this case

No tune up recently, I replaced the alternater yesterday cause it appeared to be loosing power while i was driving causing it not to spark. I also put on new plug wires and rotor cap, eye balled the timing.

The problem is more consistant when the engine is warmed up.

When I am coasting and get on the accel about 25% it goes dead as in no combustion than jumps to life with less power than ever.it stumbles when i am driving and backfires occasionally when i start to accel while moving.

I also checked vac lines for leaks with no sucess,.

that sounds like an intermitant wiring problem. try giving the harness the wiggle test.

Gave it a wiggle test and theres no change. I broke out the volt meter and I am not making any more than 12v at the battery while it is running no matter what the RPM.

The connector going to my alternator can be pulled in and out with out resistance as the clip is not fitting right, i push it as hard as i can and it wont clip, i cant tell if its still making contact.

What wires should i check out cause i believe it is a wiring problem.

check the wires in the connector. there should be two one of them should be a power wire.

when I push the connector into the alternator it doesnt click, it seems to be not making a connection. As once I replaced my alternator it does not charge my battery at all.

try a junkyard for another connector
