ka24e starter-- hatachi or mitsubishi?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

my starter is starting to fail on me, when i was buying a new one the mechanic asked me if it was a mitsubishi or hatachi starter. i have a 1990 240 ka24e does anyone know which one it is? or which one is better?

should not matter. go to autozone and they will give you one that will work no matter what, it's $125 I think. or on the cheap go to a junkyard and hope the starter you pull lasts.

I think the hitachi/mitsubishi one is for the distributor and not the starter. But, if it does come up, I'd check it against the distributor as it's pretty unlikely that they'd mix the two sets of parts around like that.

I replaced the starter on my 95 240sx yesterday. The one I removed was a mitsubishi. I am not positive what kind I put back in but it was different. The mitsubishi model had the solenoid clocked a little differently and the solenoid was moved about 3/4" back from the mounting flange of the starter. I had to bend a bracket on a hose a little so the new starter would fit.

i work at autozone and it does make a diffrance for the distributor and if im not mistaken it does on the starter to i know it does on the nissan trucks so its prboly the same for the 240

Does anyone know if they make hi-torque starter for the KADE?
