hey everybody, i'm new here. I just did a stock manual transmission swap on my '89 240. the previous motor was blown so i got one from a local junkyard. once i got everything put together and fired the car up i figured out that the motor had a blown head gasket. I had the head checked for cracks and warpage. warpage was found and the head was shaved. valve seals were replaced. Idle air control was replaced. no vacuum leaks have been found. it's kind of hard to start but the throttle position helps it fire up. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

check your throttle position sensor (t.p.s) and check the injectors.

thanks, well i found that i cracked the old molded pcv valve hose after i did a head gasket on the junkyard motor i found. i fixed that problem and it still idles the same. as far as the smoking issue goes, i remeber seeing that some valves were leaking past the seals or guides were leaking due to excessive wear. I replaced the seals when i did the head gasket so i know that the guides are worn pretty bad. The mass air flow meter is fine. I know that there are two different dist. for that motor and i was wondering if maybe it has to do with the dist. being from an automatic vehicle and can't work well with the manual trans. ecu?
