ka24e short shifter ( how to install)

how do u install a short shifter on a ka24e stock transmission??? (240sx xe) cant figure it out

what kind of short shifter, b & m comes with real good instructions. if not a b & m i think you can go to their website and they have a set, theyre pretty universal anyway. as far as i know you just pull of the knob and boot, then unscrew it, pull of the lower boot, and a few other things. this will explain it better:

If you bought a kit like they sell on ebay and such that just has a shorter lever the install is different than a b&m and in my opinion it is easier. first unscrew your shift knob, it may be hard to break it loose but if will with enough force and yes it has regular right handed threads. after you unscrew the knob then just pull up on the shift plate and lift the whole thing out. then you will see a rubber boot bolted to the floor with 4 screws, just remove the screws and slide the boot up off the lever. now you will see the lower shift boot on the trans, just take some wire clippers and clip the zip tie around the lower protion of the boot. now pull the lower part of the boot up off of the trans as far aas you can. now if you look down inside the top of the trans housing you will see a big snap ring around the base of the shift lever. just remove the snap ring and the whole lever will slide up out. just install the new lever and you're good to go. the whole process should only take you about 10 min or so

how does the snap ring come out?

Use a needle nose plier or a special C Clip Pliers to get the snap ring out. I used two small screwdrivers.

i pulled the c-clip and the snap ring out. now i can't get the damn c-clip back in. any ideas? the fsm says the c-clip goes on before the snap ring, i can fit the snap ring in but i can't get the c-clip in. did i mess up? how do i get it back in??

great information. its what I used and my only problem was getting the plastic tip off.
