I've decided to go with a remanufactured KA, Was just wondering a couple of things. I'm buying alot of new stuff (Daily Driver nothing fancy). But was just curious about certain things to make the new engine go in and smoothly without having to worry about part's leaking etc a little horsepower boosts would be nice.

1. New Radiator - I bought a OEM Koyo on Ebay. Has anyone used one are theyany good.

2. Water Pump - Went to Autozone, The one's they had made me nervous (Duralast). Kragen had 1 made in China. Was thinking about buying a NPW or GMB made in Japan Water Pump. Are these good brands ???

3. Valve Cover - Does anyone know if I can dress up the Valve cover with some paint or something to make it look nice. Is powder coating a good suggestion.

4. Spark Plugs - I bought Bosch Platinum Plug's and Borg-Warner Premium Wire Set. Are these decent. I thought I read somewhere that it could make the performance suffer.

5. Header's, Cold Air Intake Kits, Hotshot Header's etc. - Are these item's worth it? Do they actually give you more horsepower where you would notice it ??

Just looking for advice from the 240SX enthusiast.

Thanks,Elliott

1. The radiator should be fine, Iam still pushing stock and I run track days and autoX.

2. I use the autozone waterpump, no pump probs, have had it for like 1.5 years.

3. Powder coat I would recommend. Not to expensive and sticks better than paint, plus you dont have to prep it etc. etc. SOmeone else does it.

5. Bosche should be fine. I would highly recommend NGK. I use the Plat plugs and have no problem. Just gap it correctly.

5. Headers there are many brands and reviews off them, just search. I have a pacesetter but would not recommend it for many reasons. Intake I have a injen but you can get a AEM for cheaper, its just a intake. Slightly better power just because of better flow. Nothing extreme. Those are just the beginning to modifying those systems. I would recommend alittle performance, wake up the KA alittle.

tell me what you don't like about the Pacesetter header I have one and the only thing that I didn't like was the fitment next to the driveshaft bolt.

Bosch sucks on these engines from my experience and others that I've spoken to. They don't do very well on Camaro's either so I imagaine they are only good for European cars. Go with NGK or my fav's, Denso, you don't really need platinum unless you are running really hot (so I've heard)

The pacestter was horrible in every aspect. Horrible fitment. Did not clear my steering rack and it also bangs on the underbody of my car, rusted to hell and sounds awful.

1.)Koyo is good stuff. I got a new OEM one from a local radiator shop that had metal endtanks, works awesome.2.) Never had any probs with duralast stuff from autozone. Rarely have i gotten a bad part from them, even then they had no prob replacing the part.3.)Bosch platinums blow for KA. Had 'em, car ran like crap. NGK V-powers are all i have used since. Some come pregapped, the ungapped set i got had a gap that was in the range for the KA.4.)Yes. Yes. HotShot, DC Sports are some of the more common headers in use for the KA. I have always found the HotShot header to be listed slightly cheaper than the DC Sports header. Intake kits do net you noticable results, however there are mixed feelings about the Cold Air Extensions. BRM (NICO brand) has a very decent set of cat-backs for the 240sx.
