New to nico but have been 'searching' forums to answer my questions for months and finally stumped.

Long story short i bought a 240 90' fast back. Stripped it , then decided to strip and rebuild the top half of the motor because of a few issues found.

Moved the battery to the backDid a full emissions removalremoved clutch fanTook the head off and replaced the valve sealsRemoved swirl valves and sealed themreplaced all the gasketscut a ebay intake pipe and attached a maf adapter + filter

All of the above appears done correctly because the car idles (after a few problems that i resolved) at ~900-1100 fairly smooth with no vacuum leaks that i can find but here lies the problem.

Idles only when the MAF sensor is either unplugged or plugged in but not in line with the TB.

I measured the voltage and i'm getting .85 when not in line and the engine is idling. Soon as i put it in front of the TB it rises to the expected 1.0-1.1 but the motor shuts off.Isn't it suppose to be at ~1.0....

If i blow into the front of the maf while it is not in line engine smooths out. If i give it WOT while inline it hits redline no problem but coughs as soon as it gets to 1.5k and then shuts off again.

I even re grounded the sensor thinking i had a bad ground.Checked the TPS location as well to no avail.

I'm pretty sure this MAF has no issues (was fine before the rebuild) so anyone have any ideas what i could be doing wrong? Isn't voltage suppose to be at ~1.1 at idle anyway...

btw

Nico

Quick update to confuse anyone interested.

i cut the MAF return line and tied it to my multimeter.Running at a somewhat good idle it reads ~1.12volts.

As soon as i touch that line with the return line to the ecu it shuts off.

Repeating the same thing but at WOT it redlines without a hitch.

I'm starting to think either some other sensor has problems or 1 volt is not where it should be at idle.

Dam, thought someone would chip in.

Welp i fixed it.

Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, it was a vacuum leak between the 2 parts of the intake manifold.

I figured if u unplug the maf and it idles at -20-22 you have no leaks.Out of ideas grabbed a can of intake cleaner and started spraying and sure enough...

resealed and running smooth.
