I have a KA24E in my 89 240 right now with about 200k + miles on it, and i know the dude i bought it from ROMPED on it so hard, so it threw a rod and probably put a hole in the block, would i be best just to buy a whole new other SOHC, or should i just try to rebuild this engine to get it to run again?.. its an auto, but going to be upgrading to an 5spd transmission.

Assuming the block is intact, it would be preferable to rebuild it.Depending on the amount of machining required, you can have a fresh engine for 5 to 8 hundred dollars. Thats including gaskets, crank kit, water pump, hoses belts etc. etc.Thats assuming you do your own wrenching and want reliable everyday performance over an all out race engine.

yeah i may consider rebuilding if i do not find a running ka within a month, and yeah i would want a daily driver, and i would be doing all the work.. a rebuild is definitely in mind!

at the moment i have $400 to spend, either on another SOHC or a rebuild.. sooo i dunno
