ok so i got the flywheel off and removed the bolts hold the retainer on. but i hear the retainer is aluminum so it can be damaged easily. how do i take this off without damaging it?

Easiest way to tell if it's aluminum is to try and stick a magnet to it. If it sticks, it's not aluminum.

pry it off.

it's aluminum, not butter.
