The picture above shows a steel line coming off the manifold. This is the line that runs into a little box that connects to the cold air intake. I can't break this loose it is rounded off and the threads are messed up. What exactly does this line do? Do I need it? If I do what is it called and where could I purchase one.

The Picture above is the steel line coming from the EGR valve. It is supposed to screw right into the new header. It doesn't line up. (ebstores.us) LOL. What exactly does this line do for the car? Do I need this one or can I plug it up?

Thanks for the help in advance!

that's what i call optional parts!! i cut off the pipe close to the fitting, insert a short 1/2 bolt and weld all around now you have a plug.

I can see how the one going from the manifold to the intake air box would be optional but I don't know about the one going from the EGR to the manifold. That one might be needed. I just want to know what purpose both of these lines serve.

One line is for the EGR and the other is for the secondary air injection system. They are both required parts of the emissions system. You will get a MIL/code for the EGR if it isn't working though and it is technically illegal to remove them.

The car will run fine without them if they are bypassed and plugged properly. If you put a resistor in place of the EGR temp sensor, the ECU won't know anything is wrong and won't set any codes.
