Does anybody know if I can use the ka24de crank pulleys on the ka24e crank? If searched everywhere and I still can't find this out.

just make sure they have the same belt size for the Power steering, and the Alternator and A/C if you have A/C. what i know is that the block is the same, the Head is whats different from the 2

Alright so if the belt sizes are different then they probably won't fit??

You could just get different belts at that point

it will but the belt wont fit all the way, i know that the power steering belt on the Ka has only like 2 or 3 groves and the Sr belt has like 4 groves, something like that you can still use a smaller belt but maybe one grove might not be in use just make sure its o the same groves so it wont pop out of place. hope im making sense

Edit: but as for the crank pulley there pretty much interchangeable

1. The pulleys are not the same. Can you use them that I dont know but they are not the same. I dont think there interchangeable because all aftermarket underdrive crank pullies for ka 240sx say 91-98. every site ive just researched says that.

2. A ka24de block and a ka24e block are not the same on any level other then 2.4 Nissan intake on pass exhaust on driver side. And the motor mounts swap over

3. Why are you changing your crank pulley? Whats wrong with the one you have?

4. Dohc and sohc both use 2 x 4rib belts and 1 3 rib but they are in differnt orders on the pulley

5 sohc and dohc timing marks are on diff sides of the pulley

6. I dont think the offset is right on the pulley to line up the accessories

7. You might be able to use one off a d21 but I honestly have no idea

Im sure it can be done but I dont think its worth the trouble. People practically give sohc stuff away im sure you can find one for next to nothing. But I wouldnt even think about the dohc pulley

Thanks man that's some good info. I will just try to find the sohc pulleys to save some trouble... The reason I'm changing them is because my water pump blew up while I was driving, and it broke the fan and fan clutch. When the fan broke it poked a hole in the radiator and it chipped the crankshaft pulleys.. I think the harmonic pulley, also it dented and chipped the water pump pulley as well.

Electric fans ftw. If you dont have a fan then just got electric. If you buy a used clutch style buy a new clutch for it for 50$

I like mechanical fans there more reliable. Sure you lose power from parasitic drag but they are more reliable in my opinion. If its not a high hp car there is no need to switch them. Not to say I dont like electric fans but I do like mechanical better

Well I like electrical better, so there!

I actually do like how much space you save by ditching the mechanical fan. Everything becomes so much easier to work on. I just use the stock AC fan wired to a switch in the interior. Its never let me down! Granted, its bolted to a pretty big Mishimoto radiator as well...

Well if your going to do anything like that I suggest getting a fan controller. There cheap and well worth it for those days where your sitting in traffic talking to your gf thats complaining about something and you look down and your car is at 215* and climbing fast because she distracted you from flipping the switch.. If your gonna go electric then at least do it right the first time.

Not bashing papas idea but that just scares me. I constantly check my gauges and dumby lights while driving but I know if I did that I would constantly have it in the back of my head and never focus on the road because I keep sweeping my eyes across the gauges.

I say if you already bought a new fan clutch then keep it. Hell look into flex a lite mechanical fan. They flatten out in the higher rpms and reduce drag. Plus I think most are lighter then our stock fans. You can never go wrong with a mechanical fan but there are other ways

^Yeah I guess if I lived somewhere I actually saw traffic, I could see that. Where I'm at now, I really never get stuck long enough to worry about it.
