KA24e: Possible timing chain issue, maybe not though

So i have an annoying ticking noise coming from underhood. At first I was thinking timing chain, but now I am not so sure.

All the research I have done only has info on the dual cam and no info on the single cam, so I am here.

The noise starts at about 2,300-2,400 and keeps on going when the engine is under load under acceleration stops and I am just cruising. It does not do it on decel, only on accel.

Is it the timing chain? I was thinking of running a slightly thicker oil and that maybe the chain was not getting enough lube.

Could it be something else?
