Ka24e overhaul

My car makes a bad rattling sound, i think i blew something in the motor... Theres a loss in performance.. The car still runs, but makes a really bad rattling sound....How much should i expect to get my engine overhaul at a shop? Would it be cheaper to just swap in another ka24.. i know most of u would suggest a sr20 but i dont got the $$$ as of now =(

It's possible that you may have a loose timing chain or broken guides and the chain jumped timing. That may explain the noise and the lack of power.

i turned the car on today and white smoke came out.....so that def. means i blew something right? the car barely runs, it will start and stuff, but i doubt i can drive it for a mile....

Yeah, it is probably done. Check your oil to see what color it is, if it is 'milkshake' colored, then you are in for some ugliness. Dr. John, it's yours from here, but I was told that once this happens, the internals of the engine are pretty much shot and your better off just to replace the engine. This is what I am having done as once the antifreeze got into the oil, it spun a bearing which in turn threw a rod. The knocking was HORRIBLE!

However, if the oil is not the milkshake color, then it could be something else not quite as costly???
