I have serched for this and cant find what I am looking for. I am buying a high mileage s13 to re-build and turbo. I am wondering if I should re-build the motor in it (KA24E) or buy a cheap KA24DE and build that? I also would like to know if the MAF sensor from an s14 will work on an s13 with the KA24E and the KA24DE motors?

both of those engines have been proven to hold boost pretty well. i like the DE a little bit more because its a more modern engine and theres also more aftermarket support for the DE. Im not sure on the other questions so i cant answer those

The sohc has lower compression than the dohc. I would probably rebuild what's in the car because it's already there and you won't have to mess with wiring harnesses and such if you were to do a dohc swap. The ka24e will hold fine to boost, and many, many members have turboed them successfully w/o any adverse effects.

i agree with altiman, If you have the money id either A) turbo/rebuild the EB) keep the E stock, and completely rebuild a DE before you put it in and boost it.

I'm keeping my E stock and slowly rebuilding a DE for turbo use.and then I'm gonna keep the E around in case I blow the DE so I have a back up.

If im not mistaken i believe the E has a higher C/R mabye its just after you swap the pistons to the DEbut i think it was something like 10.5-11/1 although i maybe wrong.

90lkn4swp you have it backwards, e pistons in a de make a higher compression ratio. Altimaman was correct about stock cr's too.

Yeah if you swap late model 89 pistons to the DE you get 11.7/1

I've seen that as well. I definitely would keep the E. Buy another one and rebuild that for turbo. It would make the swap so much easier. What does everyone have against the sohc?

i thought if u have a SOHC 240sx to swap it for a DOHC u need to change the power steering lines? my friend has a 89 240 and he is planning to build up a DOHC and then swap the SOHC but he wasnt sure if he should do it, the DOHC's has piston oil squirters and i think a better aftermarket support, feel free to correct me
