I own a 1990 240sx with a Ka24e, I was planing to do a swap either to a Ca18det or to a Sr20det. But i drove my friends civic which he got a b20 pussing 230hp to the fly w/o nitrous and about 320 with nitrous (dyno results). And i drove it in a drag race and i liked how when i launched at 3000 and then hit the nitrous there was no turbo lag and lots of power. When driving it back to his house i like the low end torque below 3000 for daily driving. It would have been real nice if it wasn't in a civic. Anyways when i was looking for performance parts for the Ka24de (becuase i was going to grab one out of the junk yard and build it over the winter) i found more performance parts for the Ka24e. I was just wondering what you guy's think if i should stick with my ka24e (which only has 44000 on it) or buy a ka24de and build that. I would be planing for hopefullly 200-250 NA and more with nitrous. BTW what compression do i need to run nitrous?

This is just what i have heard from these boards, but i understand that the KA24E SOHC responds better to engine upgrades and in the end can handle more NA power than the DOHC KA24DE. I think it was like 220 RWHP for a SOHC and 200 RWHP for the DOHC. Thats why im keeping my single stick.:thumbup

Thanks, any idea how much your 240sx puts out JNM240.

*sigh*

Right now im running like total dog poop. I think i got some real bad gas in Picayune today cause im missing all over the place. Plus i have a rear main seal leak (not good) and low compression across all my cylinders. Sorry, i havent dyno'ed my car at all, she's a little too fragile right now. Im trying to save up the money (and time) to pull my engine and rebuild it with the Nissan 9.1/1 compression pistons and have the head workd on some. Then i, with what i have, i would imagine somewhere in the neighborhood of 140-160 RWHP. My cam gave me the biggest gain (and headaches!) of all my mods. The worst mod i have is the header. I really want a HotShot, but i cant afford it right now, the Pacesetter will have to make do for bit.

If your SOHC has only 44,000 miles on, your are in excellent shape. Mine has 189,000 on her and i still like to push her once in a while. The body is immaculate, suspension perfect, brakes need some drilled rotors (hehe), interior spotless. Just need some hardcore engine work.

Whatever you decide to do, just go a little at a time. Get what you can afford (unless its a Pacesetter header, save a little more for the better one :pface ) and just enjoy it between mods. Before you know it, you have a list of stuff as long as mine and cant remeber how long ago stock was. Its awesome!
