I am a pretty decent tech and I feel like I need to say that before I ask this question...:), but one thing I have learn over the years about car repair is that there is always someone out there that knows more than you. I did a total rebuild on this motor about 21,000 ago. It was bored 20 over due to the #2 cylinder oil control ring quitting. Everything is pretty much stock except for the injectors and airfilter. And it runs like a bat out of hell...BUT it has developed a bad oil leak. What I need to know is does anyone have a FACTORY SM (mine has been lost in a move) that details the replacement of the oil pan gasket without engine removal. They always detail little tricks that the factory knows about or if any of you guys might know. I am sure that the motor will have to come off of the mounts but likew how far, what, if anything at the back of the motor near the firewall needs to be moved or removed to allow the motor to tilt backwards and up? Just trying to a little homework and find out the shortcuts ahead of time. All input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:ylsuper

Thanks for the info and it would be great if you send it to me! Since it is large and my email capacity is only about 6 meg, do you know if there is a way to post it to the board? Maybe break it up into 3 - 5 messages or attachments? This is a godsend...thanks guy. By the way, last night I dropped the front sway-bar, unbolted the motor mounts, jacked the motor up by the crank pulley, loosened the torsional brackets that connect the block to the bellhousing, loosened the pan bolts and it came right off. But I could still really use the manual for other S@#*. Thanks again and let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

I've done 3 timing chain replacements and so I've removed the oil pan 3 times. First of all, there isnt' a gasket. You just have to use RTV. You will have to support the motor somehow (I put a jack under the transmission) and then disconnect the motor mounts. then You'll need to remove the anti-sway bar and T/C rods. (at least unhook them from the lower control arm) Then drop the lower sub-frame. 2 bolts on each side. It's still a pain to get to the bolts on the oil pan, but at least you can actually get to them. If that doesn't make sense, lemme know and I'll explain it in better detail.

Yes there is a gasket. I have one from courtesy nissan. It was like $10. No easier way than to pull the engine bro.
