I have a 91 pickup 2.4l with 103k miles and just noticed this leak. Its right below the oil filter where a small thing sticks out with a wire going to it. I believe this is the oil sending unit? I'm not sure if this is where the leak is or not but the plastic boot cover on it was filled with oil.

Any suggestions on what caused this or what to do? thanks.

You can get the oil sensor at any parts store too. Rather cheap.

check the filter!..if the oil sending unit is leaking that would be the first one ive ever herd of in my life failing..try to tighten up the oil filter..if its tight..think back to when your last change was done and are you using a high flow filter or a regular one...it might be time to replace that..allso..the filter attaches to a sort of adapter..check to see if ya blew the seal on that...if ya did..you can make one or go buy one..its an easy fix ither way..good luck.
