Hello all I am new to the site and fairly new to nissans. I just purchased a 93 hardbody with the ka24e which I understand differs slightly from the car version. I want to use this truck as my daily driver for the time being and was wondering what are some good upgrades that will add some power as well as keeping it reliable enough to use as my primary vehicle.

Thanks in advance.

The Ka's don't make much power N/A. But i would consider a lightened flywheel, headers and exhaust!

Yeah I've heard you cant make tooooo much power with out boosting them. So that will have to do for the time being. Thanks! Once I get something else later down the road i'm going to turn my HB into a project and go all out.

I have a 240 with a ka24e, if you want to make power with this block you will have to port and polish the and bore it over 30 . Thats what i did, upgrade to a better clutch to be able to keep up with power.

I also have a 1994 Hardbody NA KA24E engine and looking for power.

WHERE do I buy a header?

People on this forum are full of suggestions.

Buy a header
Put a turbo on it
Cat-back exhaust

Thats great. But I already know all that. I'm sure most other guys asking these questions know that a header and a turbo would boost output. Common sense.

But WHERE do you buy these parts? Could you more experienced guys list the names of some vendors and parts houses that have these items?

I'd like to put a basic turbo on my truck because I recently bought a small boat and I'm having problems pulling the big hills going down the highway. Lots of people will tell ya to put a turbo on it and then grab a 'switzelfart 3000' ignition box from 'Joe'

:wtf2:

I have no idea who 'Joe' is and how to get hold of him.

intranets have this thing called google. You can certainly search "ka24e header" and I'm sure you'll pull up something.
But to help you out even more, I suggest looking at the NICO sponsors- I'm sure there's a few that can help you out.
That being said, if you're looking for more power to tow a boat, a header won't do you much good, since most of them shift the powerband a bit toward the higher rpms, while you probably want the low end torque that the KA does so well. A low-boost turbo or a supercharger would probably be a better option than staying NA. However, the easiest way to help you tow that boat would be to get a larger truck (though swapping in a small block V8 would be cooler). Check out the turbo KA forums and ask some questions there- good luck!

I have searched and I find plenty of suggestions on parts to buy -- but nobody ever says WHERE to buy them.

I am aware it is a long stroke engine. I started a turbo thread asking for links or names of vendors where I could buy the parts.

Not everybody is like most of you guys here. I'm not into making modifications to my truck every year. It's a reliable daily driver and thats what I use it for. The truck is not my hobby, so I'm not as well versed on where to buy the parts and which combinations work best. A guy can only read so much on this forum before it all just turns into muddle and the brain becomes mushy.

I'm just saying, it would be nice if you more experienced guys would help out a novice once in awhile instead of just saying 'use the search'

I can search and search and find tons of suggestions on how to modify the engine. But for some reason it seams like actually listing the NAME of the vendor where you got the parts is some kind of dirty secret that you hobby guys don't like to provide. It's frustrating.

Rather than spend the time to say 'search' why not just say 'you can get this xxx turbo at ......xxxxx and it works good with this exhaust that you can get here ...xxx and you'll need these injectors ...xxx that you can get here and then you'll want to use this waste gate from here ...xxx and you probably want this fuel pump for that mild performance boost that you're looking for -- get it here ...xxx - get the wha squiggle toot pump with part number ending in TDE - not the camel hump pump that ends with DDE -- that should get you a solid 50hp without blowing the motor up. Good luck'

Why is that so hard for you experienced guys? It seams like you'd rather tell a new guy to search instead of just answering the damn question with a clear and concise answer. Takes the same time out of your day either way.

Seriously? Look, we can't make your decisions for you CH, you do need to do some legwork on your own. If you're intent on turbo, then you should probably look for kits- Enjuku and FRsport are both sponsors who should be able to help you. Why don't you give one of them a call- tell them you found them on NICO, and ask them for assistance in meeting your needs.

See? Now thats the kind of information a guy like me needs. A few names of vendors where I might start my search. Didn't take you very long to type those names out, did it? Hope you didn't get any blisters over it. :rotflmao

Thanks!!
