ka24e main galley oil seals

ka24e 90 240 sx

took off timing cover and these seals seem to be two metal rings. one has a tab on it Are rubber seals missing or pressed in engine? not sure what they are supposed to look like. or are these metal rings the actual seals. they look ok so why replace them/
