O.K. I have sarched and searched and I can not find what I'm looking for. I have gained a little bit of techno bable. I have an engine knock and it is not coming and going it is there constant. Idle or if you are revving. It has affected drivability and when driving there is no power and I mean no power. If any one could help besides saying go to the search button because I'm sure the point of a forumn is to help fellow enthuastists with problems you have knowledge about. I'm not trying to come off as a prick just need some help. It is a constant knock wether it is idle or under load. Before I go tearing it apart I would like a map. The first time I posted this I was told timing chain replaced that and still have a knock. It is not the double knock like a wrist pin. I guess I'm trying to put off what I am going to eventually have to do. I just want to make sure I'm right. Measure twice cut once. Thanks for the help. When and if I can I will return the favor.

Also no overheating I have done the Seafoam and have switched to 20w50. I need to get another 6 months out of this engine or come across a very inexpensive replacement.

A little less attitude is a good place to start.

Sounds like you allready know hte answer. Internal engine need repair. Ifg you need the car to hold on for six months then just baby it. easy on the throttle etc. If it is a rod cap then I really doubt you will get 6 months out of it.

There is no "attitude". As I was doing my search for the answer almost every other thread was someone telling the fellow Nico member who shares the same passion for the 240 to go to the search button. I understand that it is there to help keep from repeating the same questions over, but how about just helping.Again sorry for the "attitude".

I guess I was having a bad day when I sent the other response. When I reread it it did sound a little rough. Sorry.

But back to your problem. I think you allready know that you have an internal engine problem. The only question is how long before terable things happen. I would re-build sooner rather than later but if you can't then just baby it as much as you can and work on getting the parts/money together for a proper rebuild/swap.

have you checked your knock sensor? its located under your headers. you should visually check it for crack or other physical damages. if thats not it, then disconnect it( you dont have to remove it completely) and check its voltage wit a multimeter

It's no big deal we all havr those days. Yeah I have been pricing rebuild kits including forging the bottom end and the valve train. Why I don't know. I don't have the money for a swap so I figured I would build a bomb proof motor and see what happens next. I thought the knock sensor might be doing it, but then again I could'nt see a sensor causing that king of havic. So I guess tomorrow I am checking that. Can a knock sensor really cause that kind og maheim? Thanks for the response and as always it's nice when people help out other enthausists. 240s are a way of life not some fad cause I saw it in a movie. Thanks and I will keep you posted. Also, if anyone has a running ka24e 4 sale let me know I think I might rebuild one and put the other in. Nothing like having back up.
