KA24E/KA24DE Interference motors???

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

hey my name is tye iam new to the site, and was woundering if the KA24E/KA24DE are interference motors???

im not sure 100% but im going to take a guess and say they are. if non interference means that theres no chance of a valve hitting a piston or something like that and u can definetly do that in a ka. someone correct me please if im wrong.

Yeah they are. If the chain breaks there is a chance of it hitting the valves.

yea like those hybrid engines are non interference.

i really dont even know what the actual difference is between interference and non interference motors other than the valve and piston thing

Hey, did anyone ever figure out if the engine is an interference engine? A shop told me that I had put my timing on wrong and bent the valves, but there are no marks on the pistons, and I turned it b hand the first time.

ka's are interference motors.

That is the differance between interferance and non interferance. On an interferance motor the valve will move down and ocupy the same space that the piston does when it is at top dead center. Of course they don't hit because we all have our timing set properly and the crank moves the piston out of the way

Of course on a non-interferance motor the valves will not hit the piston no matter where you set the cam.
