when im driving on the freeway today for some odd reason my rpm would jump like 500 down .. for example im driving at 3000rpm it just suddenly jumps to like 2500rmp then immediately jumps back to 3000rpm...????

what the hell does this mean????..... could it be a bad fuel injector????>..

can you actually feel the rpm's decrease? meaning like does it actually slow you down, or were you still at a constant speed?

While using the engine to "brake" the vehicle's speed, or coasting; its possible to have this experience if the clutch is worn and slips.

But if the clutch is worn this much, you should also experience slipping as you accelerate or pull a hill. In this case, the engine rpm would jump upward.

I'm still betting on slipping clutch. If you have actual engine slow down, but no vehicle slow down .... What else is there?

Your engine may not have enough torque to cause (upward) slipping in normal driving. But I bet if you do a bit of hot acceleration, racing the engine and "popping" the clutch a bit (bad practice ... only do it for a test), you will experience slippage.

Um. i have an Automatic and its a Ka24De but while i cruise, it used to feel like it was skipping or like losing power for just a second and gets back to normal. RpM looked like it was constant when i looked afterwards, but might of jumped 100 or something at least..

Well i took it apart thsi weekend and i found the lower timing chain tensioner to be loose. Just my two cents for the night hopefully it helps

My 90 coupe has the same issue. It feels like someone is pushing my car from the back.....sort of a jerky feeling. It's weird because I don't notice the RPM's moving at all.

Check your speed sensor on the right side of the transmission. Mine malfunctioned and caused the same symptoms. Replaced for about 45-50 bucks and no hiccups since.
