ka24e is messing up

ok first it wont rev over 5500 in 1st and 2nd gear and i cant get to rev over 4000 in 3rd i am running it in a 1/3 mi dirt track it also shuts down to an idle and i got to hit the cluch and let all of the way off of the gas pedal for it to rev back up to the 4000 in 3rd gear it is a 89 240 sx with a ka24e 5 speed

generally with a bad maf it wont let you rev over 2500, but maybe your maf is just giving a bad reading and it not completely unfunctional. Try borrowing a maf from a working car for the motor you have and see if that helps anything.
If not i honestly dont know what would cause that problem.
