Finally got my motor pulled out, and onto an engine stand, and am beginning to start ripping the block apart but kinda ran into a small problem. The intake manifold will NOT come off.

I have removed all the bolts, (2 bolts and 2 nuts upper, 2 long bolts in between the runners, the 1 bolt hidden behind power steering pump, and the entire manifold stay is removed from the block). I'm positive I got all the bolts, unless the FSM is missing one in the diagram.

I've tried prying, hitting it with a mallet, turning the motor sideways on the stand and literally hung on the manifold. I got the left portion to come loose, but the right half seems like it's stuck on something. Could it be that I bent the stud or something, because I did wrap a chain around the intake runners in order to pull the engine out of the bay. Any ideas?

Theres another bracket thats kinda hidden that connects the manifold to the block. Just look for it, if you look at your starter and then go to the right of it, you will see it.

If you're talking about the bracket underneath the manifold that connects it to the block, I already stated that I removed it (the manifold stay). Still not able to get it off. Perhaps I should turn the motor completely sideways on the stand and use the hoist and chains to pull up on the manifold

The motor is on an engine stand, so there is nothing really "hidden" anymore like that bracket, and I'm positive everything is removed, verified by the FSM.

either you didnt take the bracket that holds the mani to the block off, or you missed a bolt. on the e there are 2 super long bolts that dont com out of the manifold, and they are hard to see.

wish i had an E fsm so i could help more though.

Ok I've already established that I've removed the bracket under themanifold, and there is only one bracke there. I've also removed ALL nuts and bolts, including the 2 long bolts that run between the runners, I mentioned that. I do have the ka24e FSM so I can verify that I got all the bolts and brackets, but it STILL will not come off.

here so you can point out if I've actually missed anything:

6 upper bolts

hidden lower bolt

no manifold stay here

You guys have any progress on this? I'm trying to take it off too but with engine inside the car. The FSM seems too cryptic for me since it doesn't show all the bolts.

4 foot pry par did the trick, guess my manifold was slightly rusted to the head at the bolt
