just got finished putting a motor in my car, Now it has a high RPM miss that starts at arond 3K, also, when this starts happening, the tach jumps. Its an E motor in a 90 hatch. any ideas? plugs, new, wires, new. timing is a little advanced over stock, but not much. just enough to give it a lil extra kick. thanks in advance!

Coil problem maybe? The tach is driven directly off of the power transistor located on the coil (yellow wire w/red stripe w/3.3k resistor). Your coil coule be puking out and at same time completely losing tach signal?

Anyone thought about a distrubutor? I'll leave it at that. And as far as codes go, you won't get any; a.) OBDI vehicle = very limitedb.) do you have a check engine light on your dash?if you don't have a check engine you won't get codes anyway. so don't waste time scanning.

I've encountered that problem a few times in a few different nissans. What you need to do is pull the distributor cap off, two screws hold it in place, underneath it will be a rotor and your distributor, if you see any oil there, you'll need to replace it. But basically you're looking for oil anywhere beneath the cap. Real easy to check.
