KA24E HELP!

Will make this story short as possible. Friend of mine has a 89 240 that just recently received a rebuilt motor, can't remember name of company that did the rebuild. As far as I can see everything is hooked up that needs to be. Engine has spark, is getting fuel, but will not even attempt to start. Just turns over and over and over. Fairly sure timing is set *15 TDC. Other than the obvious of compression issues, which I think the engine would @ least fire if there were, what else should we begin to look into? Cam timing cause this issue? EGR? (which he plans to eliminate) MAF? I'm a SR guy and haven't worked on any KA's, so this is a learning experience for me as well. One other concern is gas. The car has sat for @ least 6 months. Would this be an issue? I know he just added more fuel to the old stuff in the tank yesterday. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Figured I would ask here first, before I went to outside world.

Maybe the timing is off 180 degrees. Switch around the plug wires.

I had issues with mine starting after my rebuild and it was the oil pump being off a bit. I would try the 180 thing first, just switch the 1 and 4 plugs. If this works either remember that you did this or pull the oil pump and readjust the shaft with everything at tdc of course. did you add any stable or anything like that to the gas while it sat? If not I would empty out the tank anyway just to get that crappy fuel out of your newly built motor. When you put in the new fuel I would add some injector cleaner to get rid of any gummy junk that got in the lines and change the fuel filter. Hope you get it going. What were the mods?I went pdm colt cam, arias 10.6:1 89.5 pistons, pauter rods, nology plugs, coil, and wires, underdrive, injen intake megan fpr, high flow fuel pump, rc 270 injectors, jim wolf tuning, obx headers, megan 2 1/2 from there back. n/a all the way aloha
