HEy guys! So I just bought this 1996 Nissan pick up, it has the Ka24e, and since the moment I got it the idle has been horrible. I'll push in the clutch at any stop sign or stop light or anywhere I need to stop enough to push in the clutch, the car will just die. It starts right back up on a dime and I've already cleaned the IA CV thinking that would fix it, but it sadly did not. Any ideas? Also, tonight when I brought it home it only ran smoothly when I floored it. I'd let the clutch out and the power just seem to be gone. Please let me know what you would do!

I'd check for vacuum leaks first. If you can get it to idle for a while, try spraying around the intake manifold/vacuum line area with some starting fluid to see if it changes the idle.
Have you tried adjusting the idle air control valve?

Does it smell like its running rich or anything? Have you pulled the plugs to see what they look like?

I've cleaned the IACV and stuck it back on and no change. I'll pull the plugs and check everything you said to check. Thanks!!

Yeah there should also be an adjustment screw on the valve itself to allow more or less air into the engine.
It probably doesn't look exactly like this, but this should give you an idea:

Moving these to Truck forums. FYI, we don't have auto subscribe as a default setting in user profiles. This is to reduce unwanted mailbox clutter. If you want emails for each reply, you can setup auto subscription or pick individual threads to subscribe to.

Something else you might try.. If the engine seems harder to start cold or warm & if you notice a strong odor of gas & the engine seems to miss & it stalls when you come to a stop. Check the fuel pump pressure regulator. With the engine not running pull the vacuum line on the regulator if the hose is wet from fuel or if you smell fuel the regulator is probably bad. You can check it with a vacuum pump to check it for a leak.
