as you can probably tell im working on my first 240sx. i must say that im not dissapionted for a stock engine. however i was wondering if the ka23e is a good base to start tacking mods on or should i consider a swap? and what kind of power could i expect if i stay with th ka? any info would be appreciated.

the KA24E is a decen engine but if your thinking of putting out seroius power dont waste your time and money to do so. I have a KA24E and its fine for now but i have plans for high horsepower so im doing the SR swap, but its your choice though

VG30 swap is too much money to spend and it will upset the weight balance that make the 240sx drive so well. I assume you are talking about the twin turbo VG. The SOHC single turbo VG is not worth the trouble.

Now there are many things you could do even with a SOHC KA24E motor, all of the upgrades are available from NISMO. Swapping to a DOHC KA24DE motor will only give you 15 more HP than the E motor, its not really worth it and not really quicker or anything.

I would suggest you take a ride on the SEARCH button at the top right of the page and see what you come up with. We talk about this all the time and lotsa you folks have asked this question before!

Good luck!

Well - if you don't mind your KA24E for awhile, I'd say stick it out and save up a good surplus of cash, and swap in the SR. I'm currently running the DE series of the motor and I'm still not completely satisfied with it (staying KA) if you can find a cheap DOHC from someone swapping to SR I'd say take it. But I've always justified my engine by telling myself, at least it's not a SOHC.
