KA24E Exhaust sensor question

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

On my SOHC KA, Theres an aluminum tube that connects from my exhaust manifold to my intake,im assuming its some kind of sensor, would there be any bad side affects if i were to eliminate this? What is it for?

Its not a sensor. I forget exactly what it does though.

What you are talking about is the egr piping.

You can block it off/remove it, but you have to block off both ends. And your car "may" throw a CEL.

Search for EGR removal or emissions removal & you'll see super dooper pics (fiznat wrote the one for DOHC, Import Ant wrote the one for SOHC).

I Thought he was one of those people trying to figure out what that black box is that connects to the intake. Which is part of te EGR system. Whatever, I've already confused myself.
