I'm doing some research on a V8 swap into my '89 240sx (yes I know I'm a horrible redneck terrorlst etc.) and my primary concern about the whole thing is weight. Specifically, I'm looking for an engine that's as close to the weight of the KA or lighter, if it's even possible. I want to have my car handling as it does now, with the torque, reliable power output, and sound that a V8 can provide.

The first step in doing this is knowing how much the KA weighs. SCC listed the engine/transmission combo as weighing 493lbs, but when I had a KA shipped (no transmission, exhaust or intake manifolds, water pump or engine mounts) the bill said it was 250lb. The transmission weighs 92-96lbs, according to a past thread. Does anyone know what SCC included in that weighing (other than the transmission, obviously)? Would the exhaust & intake manifolds plus the other items listed cause an increase of 140lbs? I'm basically just looking for a verified engine weight.

And if anyone feels compelled to post weight/mounting info regarding either a late ford 302 or buick/rover 215, I wouldn't mind:D
