I have a 1990 240sx SE and need to swap my motor. I am just doing a KA24E engine (same as what I have now). I was looking on Ebay for an engine and found quite a few for the Stanza and Axxess, they're KA24E engines but was wondering if they will still fit in the 240? For example, do I need different engine mounts or anything? Or will it just be a staight swap.

Again, I am only diong a KA24E swap, SOHC. So please dont leave posts giving me reasons on why I shoud switch to DOHC or SR20DET or w/e else,THANK YOU!!!

Any info on this will really help me, I miss driving my baby!!! ~RIPCAT

i'm not an expert on these cars (yet), however i wouldn't imagine any modification necessary. a ka24 is a ka24. the only thing i might think you would have to do is change the accessory brackets (like ps/ac) would need to be thrown on from your current (assuming screwed) engine.

i say this from experience, i bought a 4g63t from japan and had to change over the power steering bracket from the one i was replacing. some motors can be different I guess, but the mounts should be the same.

don't take my word for it, hopefully someone can confirm that. i'm just speaking from my experience in motor swaps, at least same engine codenames from different car models.

If you are swaping KA24E for KA24E then everything should go right in. Just be sure to clearly mark everything when you disconnect so you can re-connect properly.

Helps to have a friend around to help watch while you put the engine in and out.

iirc, the motor will just be turned sideways instead of longitudinally.

hey man i just did the same swap in my car single cam for single cam and the one i swapped in spun a bearing 150 miles later. so i would suggest finding another single cam and rebuilding it from the ground up using stock parts of course nothing expensive. thats what i am doing now. i tore the whole block apart and took it to a machine shop. and here is what hes doing and the cost. clean block, replace all freeze plugs with brass ones, grinding the crank(#3) journal was destroyed., i am having it bored .020 over just because the #3 hole was a little messed do to vibration. reconditioning rods, and rebuilding the short block for me.all that is costing me is like 650 im getting him the parts because you can get them cheaper at a parts store than what they will sell them for. and like i said my advice is from personal experience. if you want to know anything else let me know im pretty good with single cam stuff. and only use another 240 engine all ka blocks are the same but some head stuff is different.

Thanks for the info man, I am trying to get her running strong again and have decided to sell it once it is. I dont want it to crap out on the next person that gets it though, they should enjoy their new toy haha.

So only a 240 engine? I am having a really hard time finding any

any help or suggestions?
