hey guys, i plan on replacing my ka24e engine with another ka24e that has lesser milages until i could afford a sr20. can anyone tell me or have any site that give me step by step info on how to do this. i'm pretty sure all you have to do is unplug all hoses and wiring to do it, but to be on the safe side since i'm new when it comes to working with nissans. thanks in advance.

step 1: don't buy another ka24e unless the one you have is in pieces. save money for the sr20 swap, you'll need lots of it

ka's last forever. how many miles do you have on it anyway?

Hey I am in the process of doing this. Something that I learned is when your taking the transmission out (and its a lot easier if you take the transmission out), you need to just disconnect the part that holds the driveline up (2 bolts) instead of the four bolts that connects the driveline to the transmission. Also a jackstand is really important when unbolting the transmission. The engine itself is actually easy, just time consuming.

I find it easier taking the engine out with transmission and putting it back in takes only a few minutes. But thats just me, what ever is easier for other people.

But yea you can remove the center coupling and it makes it easier. The only really time consuming part of the whole thing is unbolting the exhaust (epecially if its rusted) and dropping the driveshaft. Everything else is unpluging wires and removing heater hoses, power steering hose, radiator hoses. Engine mounts can be a pain, becareful not to strip the nut :( Its better if you remove the bottom nut instead of the ones you can see from the top of the engine back. A long 14mm socket and a extension will get the bottom ones out easy.

Yea those motor mount nuts are a *****. I used an end wrench and just tapped it with a hammer. The driver's side is easiest, oh man, the passenger side is the one I had trouble with.
