I'm trying to get my engine to run properly so I can turbo it. There's a walbro 255 fuel pump in there, aeromotive FPR, newer sensors all the way around.

I'm going to install my e-manage ultimate and new 550cc DeatscheWerks injectors when it stops raining. I'm going to get new pigtails for it cause I'm afraid that may be another problem.

The compression is equal and good on all 4 cylinders so I know it's not that.

Anyway it seems to be running pretty good. Idling a little high cause I have to time the engine again (running a little advanced). For some reason, it seems to running out of steam at 5000rpm. I have a wideband to check it but haven't hooked it up yet and I don't want to break the o2 sensor with the odd engine conditions.

Anyway, today I realized the EGR was stuck down (frozen won't move at all). So I'm going to swap that out in the next week or so but I don't think that's keeping me from revving past 5k. I just swapped the BPT cause it wasn't sending vacuum at all to the EGR.

From the ticking sound coming from the top of the head I'm going to guess that the springs are failing. That's the only logical conclusion I can come up with since it's getting spark and the fuel pressure seems perfect. It's idling pretty steady at about 900rpm once it warms up.

If I was the fuel pump, the fuel pressure would start to fail at high rpms right? Cause mine is steady and dead on that's why I'm leaning towards valve problems well that and the ticking.

I can't seem to find anybody that sells ka24e valves and springs (I prefer something sturdier than stock). What are all the parts I need to rebuild the head? Valves, Springs, Retainers, and seals right? Anything I'm missing? Or does someone sell rebuilt heads? Do I need new rockers too or just clean the stock ones? I might as well put a cometic head gasket on it while I'm at it. Any help would be greatly appreciated with either problem. Thanks in advance.

I had this problem with a cheap eghay fpr, the gauge was off from the factory so it read that i had more fuel pressure than i did. turned up the pressure and wala she ran to redline!

Hmmmm I have an aeromotive FPR, but the gauge on it is crap, I'll try to turn it up and see what happens.
