well this dude is selling a ka24e for $100 and he sent me these pictures of it.. he claimed it ran a little rich.. tell me what you guys think of it.. it looks good from the outside

iono nothing about engine conditions unless i drive it but then from the looks of it, it looks BAD! lol!

haha it looks good to me, i don't know much about engine condition either.. whats bad about it? fill me in.. haha thanks

did he just take the valvecover and oilpan off for pictures? you might wanna know how long its been like that.

the color of the metal inside just shows that its fairly used. oil does that to aluminum and other metals.

nothing really seems wrong, but you really need to look around for leaks on the outside of the motor, you cant tell anything about the condition of the internals just by taking a picture.

bearings could be bad, but you can see in there, haha.

ahh well yeah i told him to pop off the valve cover and oil pan and take pics of it... this engine is $100, and he said it could use some work.. im not sure if i want to take a chance.. but then again i might have too.. haha

if youve got an engine stand and the tools, you should get it and do a minor rebuild, for reliabilities' sake.

id reccomend it.

or you can just try your luck to come across another sohc that someone's trying to get rid of after an sr swap or something.

yeah this guy is actually selling it due to sr swap.. but i dunno.. i only have $300 to spend.. haha so i may just keep looking

well you can get bearings for that. as long as youve got the space and the tools, its completely feasible.

it doesnt look bad to me. try to get for a little less like $75. just make sure you check it over good.

alright yeah i'll shoot him an offer for $70 since it is a 2 hour drive and gas is insanely high

any one know what vaccum line you should use to do a seafoam on that motor

i think i may just take a chance with this engine .. haha even though he says its running a little rich... i don't really have a choice.. haha

running rich isnt a mechanical thing, normally.

it could be ecu, MAF, injectors, o2 sensor, etc.

theres a lot of possibilities.

ahhh ok hopefully it doesnt run rich in my car, since im using my old ecu and everything else.. it was probably his **** that was ****ed up im hoping... if the car even starts with this motor in it i'll be happy.. haha
