i have a 94 hardbody with a KA24E. and i've researched taking off the egr system. the general census is that its beneficial for a daily driver. but i wanted to see if by some miracle it would benifit my truck. so i just disconnected the vacuum lines to the valve. and big surprise i got code 32. now i probably missed another step in fully disabling the egr system(other than removing the valve and such). but i was wondering how the computer knows its not hooked up? i know california engines had an egr pressure sensor and as far as i know my truck isnt a cali truck.

i know this might be a dumb question to some, but its little things like this that will drive me crazy till i understand WHY

I'd reccomend (if you really want to kill the environment) that you reinstall it and then take off the ends of the lines and plug them with nickels. Yes, nickels. Re attach the lines. They fit great, won't throw a code, and you'll get your wish of emissions delete.

Orrr, you KA will also benefit as a better daily from a new valve.

I'm pretty sure there is no EGR pressure sensor on a OBD 1 KA...even a Cali car, I think the only extra EGR bit we got was an extra temp sensor (either for exhaust gass or coolant, I think coolant)

I would think it would just guess based on higher then expected cylinder/exhaust tempts....Other then the celinoid to keep the EGR valve closed on a cold engine, its pretty mechanical system....Just intake vacuum VS pre-determined spring to leak at the right loads...
