The only functional difference of the obd1 s13/u12 ka24e and s13/u13 ka24de wiring is the IAT/EGT sensor. The ka24e used a dedicated IAT sensor input which was replaced with an EGT sensor in the ka24de. These are both thermistors and use the same power circuitry.
You can use a ka24e ecu on an e or de harness, you can use a de ecu on an e or de harness.
To use a ka24e ecu on de harness you must wire an IAT intake box sensor between pin 8 of ecu and ground. To use a ka24de ecu on ka24e harness you must wire the egt sensor between pin 8 and ground, and also install the knock sensor wire to pin 27 (blank on ka24e harness).
You can run either engine on either ecu, with either harness (modified as described above). Some light tuning may be required depending on setup.
Currently the ka24e U12 ecu offers the most tuning features and is cheaper to modify for that use.
